Eyo by Abidemi Sanusi
Eyo and Hush, literary works by Abidemi Sanusi and Nicole Braddock Bromley formed the basis for discussing the thorny issues of child sexual abuse and child trafficking. Speaking at the launch of the two books in Nairobi, Abidemi asked the public to do something to stop child sexual abuse. The former human rights worker urged the public to go beyond reading her novel, a fictional narrative inspired by real life experiences of people she had encountered in the course of her work.
Hush by Nicole Braddock Bromley
Nicole, who was molested by her step-father for 10 years, urged the public to break the silence. Most incidents of sexual abuse in the family are hushed, as family members choose to remain silent about the incidences. At 14, Nicole finally told her mother about the ongoing abuse. Acknowledging that not all mothers believe their children when they speak about the abuse, Nicole is thankful that her mother believed her.
